Basal Cell Carcinoma
What Kind of Skin Cancer is Basal Cell Carcinoma?
Basal Cell Carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that is very rare in people with dark skin but when it does occur, it should be recognized and treated early.
How to Spot It
Basal cell carcinoma often looks like a sore or wound that will not heal, or a raised growth that may scab over. It is common for small blood vessels to appear on the surface of the growth. Basal cell cancer often appears darker or more pigmented, rather than pink, when found on more melanin rich skin. Should you spot anything that looks like this, see a dermatologist, immediately.
